According to Mayan tradition, the god Zamn\u00e1 was walking through a henequen plantation when one of its thorns wounded him. Upon observing the leaf, he discovered that it sprouted extremely resistant fibers, ideal for serving his people (Yucat\u00e1n Today, 2024).  <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">During the 19th and 20th centuries, henequen became a fundamental resource for the international textile industry. This plant, highly resistant to drought, pests and diseases, develops large, fleshy leaves, with shades ranging from bluish white to grayish white, from which a fiber is extracted (Secretar\u00eda de Agricultura y Desarrollo Rural, 2017). <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It was used to make ropes, ropes, sacks, threads, handicrafts, rugs and even hammocks.
